Senior Commodity Trader at Biomass.dk a part of E.ON
Take charge of a new, high-potential business area in a fast-growing company with a clear green mission, close CEO collaboration, and full strategic ownership from sourcing to sales.
Do you have solid experience in international trading and a sharp business acumen? Are you used to taking ownership, driving growth, and building strong relationships in an industry where market insight and strategic thinking make all the difference? Then you might be the one we’re looking for.
Biomass.dk is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Commodity Trader to lead the development of our market position within drybulk biproduct commodities, off spec grains, glycerin, fats, and other related products. This is your opportunity to take ownership of a new high-potential business area – and make your mark in a fast-growing company.
Strategic and Operational Responsibility from Procurement to Sales
Your responsibilities will include outbound purchasing activities and networking with producers and off-take partners, contract negotiation, budgeting, business development, and various administrative and commercial tasks. You will report directly to our CEO Jens Schrøder and play a key role in driving profitable sales growth through clear go-to-market strategies.
You will work closely with the rest of the organization in areas such as sales, logistics, compliance, certifications and technical understanding of product applications. The role is broad, covering both strategic and operational tasks, with a strong emphasis on execution and risk management.
Key responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for all suppliers within the category
- Development and implementation of go-to-market strategies
- Expansion of supplier portfolio and strategic partnerships
- Negotiation, contract management, and budget control
- Sales responsibility for contracted products to the biogas industry and other relevant sectors
- Identification of new product opportunities and market needs
- Ensuring optimal logistics via ship or truck
- Close collaboration with our CEO on strategy and budget follow-up
Your profile
To succeed in this role, you should have solid experience at a senior level, ideally having worked with both commodity trading and managing logistics (such as freight by ship). A strong network within the commodity sector, particularly in agriculture, raw materials, and shipping, will be a great advantage, as it will help you build and expand key partnerships. Experience as a Broker or Commodity Trader, particularly in either drybulk biproduct commodities, off spec grains and/or vegetable oils, glycerin, or fats, would be beneficial, as it shows a deep understanding of the market and aswell a professional level of working with GAFTA and/or FOSFA.
The ability to find and secure the right products is central to this role, so being proactive and resourceful in sourcing is key.
In addition to these qualifications, you should be driven and results-oriented, with a strong ability to work independently and stay organized. Your strategic thinking will help you manage and grow the business effectively. Strong communication skills are important, as building long-lasting relationships with clients and partners will be a key part of the job. Fluency in English is required for smooth communication, and while knowledge of German or French is a plus, it’s not a must.
